20. December 2022 – IRAN
A SIGN OF HOPE IN THE HEART OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC
Every day, we are receiving more terrible news from Iran. Protesters are arbitrarily arrested, and sentenced to death, people, even children, are abducted. All this is happening in order to silence the people’s call for freedom “Jin – Jiyan – Azadî” (Kurdish), “Zan – Zendegi – Azadi” (Persian). On Tuesday, 13.12. we invited the public in Berlin to take a stand against the oppression in Iran and to demand an end to the state-legitimized terror against the civil society in Iran. Starting at 5:30 p.m., the Brandenburg Gate was brightly lit with their call for freedom!
With this event at the Brandenburg Gate, we, together with the Governing Mayor of Berlin Franziska Giffey and the State of Berlin, wanted to give hope to the courageous people in Iran (and in the diaspora) and to remember the victims of the regime’s repressive measures. Speeches were held by Franziska Giffey, Governing Mayor of Berlin, Ghazall Abdolahi, photographer and exiled Iranian, Schilan Kurdpoor, activist and teacher, Düzen Tekkal, journalist and founder of HÁWAR.help e.V., as well as musical contributions by actress and activist Pegah Ferydoni, and musician and actress Jasmin Shakeri.
