BACK TO LIFE – AFGHANISTAN

With our BACK TO LIFE – Afghanistan project, we support women and girls in the country who have had to flee domestic violence and forced marriage. The aim is to enable women to start a new life. Through the shelters, they can escape their violent situation and find a safe place from sexual abuse, domestic violence and forced marriage. A safe place where they can plan and shape their new life. They also receive basic medical care as well as psychological counseling and legal advice.

Right now, it is particularly important that the doors of these women’s shelters remain open. Since the Taliban took power in August 2021, women in Afghanistan have been denied their basic rights. These include the right to education, the right to work and the right to physical integrity. In addition, sexualized violence and forced marriages, especially among young girls, are on the rise.

To protect the women affected, our employees and our partner organization in Afghanistan, we are unable to provide more detailed information about the project or our work on the ground.
