SCORING GIRLS* GERMANY

SCORING GIRLS* Germany is a non-profit, open, and free program for girls between the ages of 8 and 18. We use soccer as a starting point to empower girls, provide them with secure and trusting environments, and promote their participation in society. As an inclusive network, we support them in their personal development and enable them to actively shape their own lives. SCORING GIRLS* Germany is active in Cologne, Berlin, and Munich.

We offer weekly soccer training sessions, pedagogical support, and a variety of hands-on learning activities, including workshops on democratic education, academic support, and holiday programs. Participants also have the opportunity to connect with inspiring role models from sport, culture, and society.

Our pedagogical support is needs-based and fully tailored to each participant. For example, we support them in dealing with challenges related to school, residency status, or career pathways, as well as mental health concerns – and, when needed, refer them to professional counseling services.

Our work is guided by the principles of solidarity, inclusion, and empowerment, and is both trauma-informed and diversity-sensitive. It also focuses on five key areas of development that we actively strengthen through our programs: teamwork, a positive body image, resilience, self-efficacy, and social participation. We work closely with schools, sports clubs, and local partners to sustainably improve access to education, sport, and community.

SCORING GIRLS* Germany is open to girls with and without an immigrant background. Participants come from diverse social and economic contexts and often from marginalized communities that are less visible or disadvantaged in society. Every girl is invited to participate.

Many of our participants experience intersectional discrimination – that is, multiple forms of disadvantage at the same time, for example due to gender, ethnic or religious background, or social status. As a result, they face barriers in education, recreational activities, and social participation, including access to sports opportunities.

SCORING GIRLS* Germany opens up new opportunities for them, strengthens their resources, and creates environments where they can feel secure, included, and empowered.
