TRUTH TALKS

At TRUTH TALKS we create spaces of encounter where different people meet and develop understanding and empathy for the personal story of the other person. We sensitize young people as well as broader society to the lived realities of people who have experienced discrimination – people who look different, think different, or love different than themselves.

We offer young people the opportunity to participate in workshops using empathy, storytelling, and dialogue methods, as well as opportunities to exchange ideas with people who have experienced discrimination, so that empathy and understanding for the lived realities of these people can be built.

WORKSHOPS

In our workshops, young people exchange ideas with other people who have experienced discrimination. By doing so, they develop empathy and understanding for the realities of these people’s lives. In the workshops, respectful debates are held and intercultural and interreligious competence is developed among the participants. The focus is on an exchange based on tolerance and mutual respect, as well as on an intercultural dialogue that provides insights into different lived realities, thereby helping to break down prejudices and find common values. Our approach is to start at a low level and let young people have their say and develop their own ideas.

KIOSK OF ENCOUNTER

With our broad-based participation campaign “Kiosk of Encounter”, we deliberately go to places where people from different backgrounds and lived realities meet, e.g. train stations, bathing lakes, or sights. Passers-by can watch videos inside the kiosk in which various people share their experiences with discrimination. In this way, passers-by gain insights into the lives of other people whom they otherwise might not have encountered in their everyday lives. In addition, passers-by have the opportunity to share their own experiences. The goal is to reach the general public. The kiosk encounters create an awareness of one’s own prejudices against other people and promote empathy and understanding for others.
